Shayan Konarak Food Production Company (Private Joint Stock) was established in 1997 in southern part of Iran located in Sistan and Baluchestan province. The company was the first canned tuna producer in the area with a ground of 12,000 square meter and a foundation of 3,800 square meter. It was founded by well-educated managers in the field of food industry with the mission of producing the highest quality of canned tuna for the Iranian market as well as creating career opportunities in this deprived part of the country. The company has been selected several times as the best production unit of the area by Sistan and Baluchestan’s Standard Organization.
In 2000, in view of their increasing production volume and the need for storing fishes in case of shortage in the market, the managers decided to build a separate processing unit next to the main facility. This unit, with a cold storage (below 0 °C) of 750 metric tons and two freezing tunnels with the daily freezing capacity of 25 metric tons, became the biggest freezing and processing unit for fishes in the area. Besides providing enough storage for the company, this unit helps other factories in the area to healthily store their caught or purchased fishes.
Nowadays the company, which consists of professional employees with 20 years of experience, can produce 17,000,000 tuna cans per year with one working shift. This production volume can be increased to 25,000,000 tuna cans per year with two working shifts. The products are available in packages of 150 and 180 grams under three different brands as Hamoon, Majlesi and Shilco. The company has more than 100 whole-sale representatives in all main cities of Iran. For direct distribution to retailers, they have a contract with Alborz Distribution Company that offers delivery to supermarkets all over the country.
During the past 20 years, the managers and employees of Shayan Konarak have been constantly trying to improve the quality of their products. They have received several prizes from national standard organizations, as well as international certificates like FDA. Today, Shayan Konarak not only offers the highest quality of canned tuna in Iran, but also competes in the international market in terms of product quality.
